Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced his country’s readiness to facilitate a potential summit between Russia and the United States, emphasizing the value of dialogue in resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Speaking to journalists during a return flight from a tour of Gulf nations, Erdoğan highlighted Turkey’s unique diplomatic position as a trusted intermediary between the two sides.
“Turkey stands prepared to host such a meeting at any moment,” Erdoğan stated. He expressed regret that a previous opportunity for talks in Budapest did not materialize, but reaffirmed Ankara’s long-standing commitment to fostering a just and lasting peace.
Erdoğan pointed to Turkey’s strong bilateral ties with both Moscow and Washington as a key advantage in peacemaking efforts. “Our relationships with both parties have earned us their confidence—a position we intend to leverage for the greater good,” he said.
The Turkish leader stressed that any form of communication between the involved nations is a constructive step toward ending hostilities, a principle Turkey has supported since the outset of the conflict.
