HUNGARY COACH ACKNOWLEDGES ARMENIAN THREAT AHEAD OF CRUCIAL QUALIFIER

by October 10, 2025

Hungarian national team manager Marco Ross has emphasized the importance of maintaining focus ahead of his squad’s upcoming European Championship qualifier against Armenia. Speaking at a pre-match briefing in Budapest, Ross identified the match as critical for his team’s qualification ambitions.

“We face matches in qualification that become absolutely essential to win,” Ross stated. “This encounter with Armenia falls into that category. Our attention is fully directed toward the immediate challenge, not previous results.”

While acknowledging Armenia’s roster includes several standout performers, the Hungarian coach expressed confidence in his team’s preparedness. “They possess four or five players of notable quality, but we have our strategies to contain them. Our focus cannot be limited to just those individuals,” he explained.

Ross confirmed his squad will be missing key personnel for the fixture, describing the absence of two particularly dangerous attackers as a significant setback. “Having only Dominik Soboszlai available from a group of three important players is far from ideal. The missing players bring a specific threat and creativity that will be difficult to replicate. Their unavailability is a situation we must overcome.”

The coach outlined his tactical approach, stressing the importance of composure. “We must control the tempo and not become impatient if early chances are not converted. Maintaining discipline and sticking to our game plan could prove decisive. We are prepared tactically, though match dynamics can always present unexpected developments.”

Ross concluded with a note of cautious optimism, affirming his team’s readiness. “We have done the necessary preparation. If the players execute according to plan, we are confident in achieving a positive outcome. We believe we have the quality to succeed.”

The Group F qualifier is scheduled for Thursday evening at Budapest’s Puskás Aréna.
