HEAD OF YEREVAN LANDFILL COMPANY DISMISSED FOLLOWING SUSPICIOUS FIRE

by October 10, 2025

The director of Yerevan’s primary landfill management company has been removed from his position in the aftermath of a major fire at the Nubarashen waste disposal site. Vahe Vardapetyan, who had been serving as acting director of “Yerevan’s Northern Landflower,” was dismissed by municipal order.

The decision comes just one day after emergency crews battled a significant blaze at the landfill facility. Authorities have indicated the fire appears to have been deliberately set rather than accidental, prompting immediate administrative action.

Multiple firefighting units from the national emergency services were deployed to contain the incident, which required extensive efforts to bring under control. The swift personnel change reflects the seriousness with which officials are treating the situation at the critical waste management facility.

The dismissal represents the first major administrative consequence following the suspicious incident at one of the capital’s key infrastructure sites.
