YEREVAN – Senior officials from Russia and Iran have convened to explore enhanced collaboration in nuclear energy, with a specific focus on small modular reactor technology. A Russian delegation, headed by a deputy director from the state nuclear corporation Rosatom, met with Iranian counterparts in Tehran.

The discussions centered on accelerating joint nuclear projects, including the development of the “Hormoz” power plant and the construction of additional high-capacity power units. The talks also addressed the operational status of existing facilities.

This high-level meeting follows a previous dialogue held between the leaders of both nations’ atomic energy agencies, underscoring a continued mutual interest in expanding their peaceful nuclear cooperation. A forthcoming visit by the head of Rosatom to Iran is anticipated to further advance these joint initiatives.
