From his prison cell, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan has delivered a powerful message that was read aloud in the National Assembly. The clergyman, currently detained, declared himself “freer than ever” and directly challenged several government bodies with a series of unanswered questions.
In a letter presented by MP Garnik Danielyan, the Archbishop framed his detention as part of a struggle for truth. He invoked religious scripture, stating that neither imprisonment nor threats could deter him from his cause. He expressed a preference for sharing the fate of his “fathers and brothers” in detention rather than being associated with those he accuses of betraying Armenia and Artsakh.
The core of his message was a direct confrontation with state authorities. He posed specific, unresolved questions to the Prosecutor General and the head of the Investigative Committee, demanding to know:
The factual basis behind the official narrative of “two people” being released while “fifteen” were imprisoned.
The truth about who was responsible for burning a bus.
Whether alleged audio recordings submitted as evidence had undergone forensic examination.
He further challenged the Foreign Ministry, demanding clarity on whether it had informed international partners about an alleged “Russian trace” in his case, calling such claims a “fraud.”
The Archbishop concluded with a declaration of faith in the ultimate victory of what he termed the “spiritual Armenia” over its opponents. His final words were a call: “Long live Armenia with Ararat, Holy Etchmiadzin, Artsakh and our martyrs.”
