A violent armed assault in the Parakar area has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including the local community leader and a criminal police officer, while another civilian sustained injuries.
The incident has drawn sharp criticism from Armenia’s Supreme Body, which issued a statement condemning the attack and extending condolences to the families of the victims and the wider community. A swift recovery was also wished for the injured citizen.
In its remarks, the Supreme Body expressed grave concern over what it described as a breakdown in law and order, pointing to systemic impunity and the alleged misuse of law enforcement for political purposes. It warned that such conditions pose a direct threat to public safety and undermine the foundations of the state.
The statement further accused the current administration of failing to curb criminal activity, while simultaneously fostering an environment where violence and retribution have become normalized. It argued that by targeting dissent and political opponents, the government has left ordinary citizens vulnerable to armed aggression.
Characterizing the situation as not merely negligence but active complicity, the Supreme Body has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the attack. It demands that those responsible be identified and held fully accountable under the law.
