A senior opposition figure has announced his intention to prepare Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for upcoming political debates. The announcement came via social media from Levon Zurabyan, deputy chairman of the Armenian National Congress.
In his statement, Zurabyan posed a pointed question regarding military deployments prior to 2018, asking what Armenian soldiers were doing outside the country’s sovereign territory during that period. He further challenged the Prime Minister’s record since assuming leadership of Armenia’s armed forces, suggesting that for two and a half years, Armenian forces remained in what he characterized as occupation of neighboring territory, a situation he described as playing into Baku’s hands.
The exchange signals rising political tensions as debate preparations get underway, with opposition figures seeking to hold the government accountable for its military and territorial policies.
