by September 13, 2025

The United States has issued a strong response following the entry of Russian military drones into Polish airspace last week, labeling the incident a serious violation of territorial integrity. American officials have emphasized their commitment to defending NATO territory and supporting allied nations in the face of such provocations.

During an address at the UN Security Council, the U.S. Permanent Representative underscored that Washington stands firmly with its NATO partners. The official stated that the United States is coordinating with Polish authorities and other alliance members under Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which provides for consultations when a member’s territorial integrity or security is threatened.

The representative further affirmed that the U.S. will take all necessary measures to protect every inch of NATO territory, describing the drone incursion as alarming and inconsistent with international efforts to maintain stability. Even if unintentional, such actions were characterized as undermining diplomatic initiatives and demonstrating disregard for established norms.

The incident has prompted heightened vigilance among NATO members, with ongoing discussions about appropriate responses to prevent future violations and reinforce collective security commitments.
