by September 5, 2025

YEREVAN – The Portuguese national football team has released footage from its training session at Yerevan’s Republican Stadium ahead of its upcoming European Championship qualifier against Armenia.

Portuguese head coach Roberto Martinez and defender Ruben Dias both acknowledged the competitive history between the two teams in their remarks. “Previous encounters between our sides have consistently been closely contested matches with narrow scorelines,” Martinez noted in the team’s official video release.

With only six matches remaining in the qualification campaign, the Portuguese coach emphasized the critical nature of the fixture. “The challenge ahead is significant, and we must approach it with complete readiness and accountability. A strong start is essential – there’s simply no margin for error at this stage of qualification.”

Dias echoed his coach’s sentiments, recognizing Armenia’s potential to pose difficulties. “We’re fully aware of the threat they can present. We’ll approach the match with the utmost respect, anticipating a demanding contest at a high level.”

The Group H encounter is scheduled for Friday evening at 20:00 local time at the Republican Stadium. The match represents the opening fixture of the final qualification round for the European Championship.
